Certified Sustainable WA and Salmon-Safe
Puget Sound Pinot Noir is one of the rarest wines in the state. The entire appellation has only about 121 acres under vine across every grape variety, and Pinot Noir — the AVA’s most-planted grape — accounts for just a fraction of that. Six of those acres are ours.
We planted in 2011 on southern-facing slopes with a view of Mount Rainier. We use machinery only where it genuinely improves the end product — hedging, fruit-zone leaf removal, under-vine weed removal. No herbicides. Everything that shapes the fruit itself is done by hand: cane pruning, shoot positioning, fruit thinning, green harvest, hand harvesting. Our reds go through native fermentation with minimal intervention, then age in French oak in the Burgundian tradition. The result has the elegance, bright acidity, and savory forest-floor character that our cool climate — and only our cool climate — can produce.
In February 2026, our 2023 Estate Pinot Noir Clone 777 scored 98 points from Great Northwest Wine and was named Best of the Best Red Wine at the 26th annual Platinum Awards — judged against gold-medal wines from Washington, Oregon, Idaho and British Columbia. It took a unanimous Double Platinum vote, and it was the first time in the history of the awards that the top red went to a Pinot Noir.

We farm two distinct Pinot Noir clones, and what happens at bottling depends on the vintage. In most years we bottle them separately, showing how our Puget Sound terroir shapes each one. In years like 2017 and 2019 they were simply better together, so we blended them. And in cool vintages when the 777 doesn’t ripen the way we want for a red wine, it becomes a Blanc de Noir sparkling wine instead.
Précoce — the floral one. Rose petals and vanilla open into ripe raspberry, strawberry, and black cherry, with a silky texture, striking salinity, and beautifully balanced acidity. 93 points, Wine Enthusiast · Double Gold, San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition 2026.
Clone 777 — the earthy one. Field mushroom, white pepper, fruit leather, and black truffle give way to forest floor, red plum, fresh strawberry, and herbes de Provence, finishing savory with our signature maritime acidity. Best of the Best Red Wine and Double Platinum, 26th Platinum Awards · 98 points, Great Northwest Wine · Best of Class, Cascadia International 2025 · 93 points, Wine Enthusiast.
Bottled separately or blended together depending on the vintage, both come from the same vineyard and the same season — proof that our terroir has range.
Our Estate Reserve is a blend of both estate clones, Précoce and 777. Kim and Larry, together with assistant winemaker Grace Fenner, taste through the barrels and select the top three — the barrels where the wine has developed the most complex aromas and flavors.

Pinot Noir is the Puget Sound AVA’s most-planted grape for good reason — the mild maritime climate mirrors Burgundy far more closely than eastern Washington ever could. Estate-grown Puget Sound Pinot Noir is one of the most distinctive wines Washington makes, and it’s what we do best.
We have earned twelve Platinum Awards for our Pinot Noir program since 2022, and twenty-one Platinums overall in four years. Only three Washington wineries received more Platinums than we did over the last two judgings — and all three make considerably more wine than our 4,500 cases a year.
Our estate vineyard is certified Sustainable WA and Salmon-Safe, and farmed using regenerative practices that build soil health year over year. Those are third-party certifications requiring documented practices that protect soil, water quality, and the ecosystem around us. We use machinery only where it helps: hedging, fruit-zone leaf removal, under-vine weed removal, and no herbicides. Everything that shapes the fruit is done by hand — cane pruning, shoot positioning, fruit thinning, hand harvesting.

Both are grown side by side on our estate vineyard. Précoce is floral and red-fruited — rose petal, raspberry, cherry. Clone 777 is earthy and savory — forest floor, truffle, red plum. In most years we bottle them separately; in vintages like 2017 and 2019 we blend them instead. Both scored 93 points from Wine Enthusiast. The 777 also scored 98 points from Great Northwest Wine and was named Best of the Best Red Wine at the 26th Platinum Awards.
Minimal intervention throughout. Our red wines — including both estate Pinot Noirs — go through native fermentation, using only the yeasts present on the fruit and in the cellar; our white wines are inoculated. Our reds and our Chardonnay age in French oak in the Burgundian tradition, while every other white is fermented and aged in stainless steel. On the estate Pinot Noir that restraint is the whole point — it lets the cool maritime climate of the Puget Sound AVA, rather than the winemaking, shape the wine.
